AI Elixir - The Oprah Effect
Hello and welcome to the first edition of AI Elixir, your weekly digest of the latest and greatest GenAI news for Heath & Wellness Marketers. I’m your host, Dan Shust from Parallel Path. Let’s get to it!
You Get an AI and You Get an AI and…

In a one-hour special airing on ABC on September 12, Oprah Winfrey will delve into the vast topic of artificial intelligence. AI and the Future of Us: An Oprah Winfrey Special, will feature conversations with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and technology reviewer Marques Brownlee.
In a promotional video for the show, Winfrey remarks, “AI: it may fascinate you or scare you, or if you’re like me, it may do both.”
The special will also include insights from industry professionals and figures like FBI Director Christopher Wray, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marilynne Robinson, and the co-founders of the Center for Humane Technology, who are expected to discuss the potential risks AI presents to creators and humanity as a whole.
WHY IT MATTERS
Oprah has a significant influence and a wide-reaching audience. If the special is presented in an unbiased manner (which some already question), it could play a key role in educating the public about both the potential benefits and risks of AI.
McKinsey’s GenAI in Healthcare Survey
McKinsey has published a very informative survey about Generative AI adoption in healthcare organizations. In general, “surveyed healthcare leaders say their organizations are eager to use generative AI to help enhance how healthcare stakeholders work and operate, but some are still adopting a wait-and-see approach”. The survey covers thoughts on ROI, areas of greatest impact, scaling hurdles and more.
WHY IT MATTERS
Generative AI is set to profoundly transform the healthcare industry, and organizations are starting to take action. According to this survey, over 70 percent of respondents from healthcare organizations report that they are either exploring or have already implemented GenAI capabilities. This survey is a great tool to see where your organization ranks amount your peers.
Stat of the week
Napkin.AI
Napkin.AI is a departure from other pixel-based text to image platforms like Midjourney. It is more of a specialized, “one trick pony” tool allowing you to create simple, easy to edit vector-based visuals, graphs and diagrams suitable for inclusion in presentations and reports.

WHY IT MATTERS
It can be very hard to coax exactly what you want to achieve from some of the other text to image platforms and easily editing the results can be tricky. Simple tools like Napkin.ai (which also don't rely on training from large amounts of publicly available data) are safe and quick to use. I look forward to the release of more apps in this vein.
An event to check out!
Thanks! See you next week.
